Brynach's History:
Brynach ap Rhys (affectionately known as "Bryn") was born in 1170 in Aberconwy, in the Principality of Gwynedd. The third son out of seven children, he had many choices for a path in life. When a Cistercian monastery was founded in Aberconwy in 1184, he declined the cloistered path, although he did learn the art of the written word. When Baldwin, the Archbishop of Canterbury, journeyed through Gwynedd in April of 1188 promoting the Third Crusade, Brynach decided instead to remain at home to tend to the sheep. However, in 1194 when Llywelyn ap Iorwerth moved to claim the throne of Gwynedd from his uncle Dafydd, Brynach was an archer in Llywelyn's army. Llywelyn defeated Dafydd near Aberconwy. Eventually, Llywelyn gained control over the entirety of Gwynedd, but that is a tale for another time and place.
In 1195, while traveling by coracle to the Ynys Mon (known to the English as the Isle of Anglesey) Brynach instead landed in a strange place called the Barony of Carolingia in the Kingdom of the East.
In Carolingia, Brynach continued his training in the art of archery, participated in dance practice, and enjoyed music and tales around many a campfire. Since then, Brynach has travelled quite a bit in the Known World. (Forget crusading, try immigrating....)
After living briefly in the Barony of Adiantum, Brynach eventually settled in the Shire of Cold Keep. He promoted archery, previously an unknown art in Cold Keep. Although staunchly a Welshman at heart, he has sworn fealty to the Principality of Avacal.
