Championship Requirements
If you wish to contest for the title of Champion of Cold Keep, you must be willing and able to freely swear to abide by the following:
- Conduct yourself at all times with courtesy in word and deed, and chivalry on the field - at any event in which you participate; represent Cold Keep with honour and pride - remember you represent all members of the Shire.
- You must be willing to represent the Shire of Cold Keep as a goodwill ambassador at all events you attend. You are obliged to compete with chivalry and adhere to the rules of any event with the highest regard for fair play. In all else, you are expected to carry yourself with honour and distinction.
- You must organize the competition to choose the next champion. You are not required to authorize the event as a whole, merely to organize the competition. You may choose to defend your championship.
- Within the year of your championship, you are expected to organize a workshop related to the field in which you are a champion. You may teach or recruit a teacher to fulfil this expectation.
- You must care for all regalia entrusted to you, and return it to the Shire of Cold Keep at the next Champions tourney.
- Contestants must have an inspiration for whom they compete. For the martial competitors (heavy combat, rapier, combat archery, and target archery), the inspiration must be a person, though that person need not be present at the tourney. For the Arts and Sciences champion, the inspiration may be a mentor, an ideal, an idea, or some other equally intangible inspiration.
- Throughout the year of the Championship, you are expected to keep the Shire of Cold Keep informed of your activities. We would appreciate seeing you back here to visit!
- There is no residency requirement. If you are willing to fulfill all of the expectations of championship, you are welcome to compete no matter where you hail from.
- Should you be unable to meet the expectations of champion in good faith, you are expected to step aside as champion. In the event that a Champion cannot or does not fulfill the requirements/expectations, the relevent officer will assume the organization of the tourney, and the Championship will remain vacant.
- You are encouraged to bestow a small gift or token on your successor.
