Armoured Combat Activities
Friday Afternoon
Youth Armoured Combat Workshop and Practice
On Friday afternoon, between 12 Noon and 4 PM, we will be running a Youth Armoured Combat orientation workshop, followed by armouring up and a practice.
Youth Armoured Combat is a fun activity for boys and girls aged 6 to 17. A parent or guardian should attend the workshop sessions with the child, and must be present (and sign a waiver) when the child is practicing.
The workshop will cover a number of topics related to preparations and rules for youth combat, as well as the opportunities for young people, chivalry, and combat in the SCA.
Our DREAM is to inspire those who attend to try out youth combat - our GOAL is give every child who wants a chance to get legally armoured and on the field
To achieve this we request the loan of youth armour or youth hockey equipment (helmets, body protection, elbow and knee pads, gloves) from anyone who can help us.
NOTE – ATHLETIC CUPS OR JILLS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL YOUTH COMBATANTS AND CANNOT BE LOANED, so parents must purchase these in advance for children who are interested in this activity.
Friday Night
Opening Soirée and Grand Melee
Warm up for the weekend events following opening court. Meet old friends and greet new faces, and kill them all, at Peregrine’s party. This will be the first armour inspection of the war, so come dressed to kill (but not get hurt), and bring your dance authorization cards. Make it a date and don’t be late, or you’ll miss the best dances.
Saturday Morning
Arcarius Tourney for Combat Archery
At the castle at 12PM
on Saturday just before the war scenarios start. Be there at 11:15AM
(inspection closes at 11:55 AM) to have your armour, weapons, and bolts
inspected. It is a biathlon style course with live targets, full armour, and
live combat ammo.
In order to participate you need 3 things:
- you must have full armour and pass an armour inspection (you may borrow
weapons and bolts provided it is arranged before hand)
- you must be authorized in Combat Archery
- you must be an Acarius to an Archos
If you are not an Acarius but still wish to participate you may ask a member
of the Order of the Grey Goose Shaft if you may “Acarius for the day” much
like the Knights will allow someone to “Squire for the day” at a Squires
tournament.
Spectators are more than welcome, there will be no shots fired anywhere near
the viewing area.
Saturday Afternoon
