Royal Summons

The following positions are open to anyone in the SCA who currently resides in the Principality of Avacal. If you would like more information regarding this position please contact the incumbent or your local officer. If you are interested in applying for any of the following positions, please submit a letter of intent along with a copy of your resume containing both SCA and mundane experience to Prince, Princess and Principality Seneschal and the current officer. Principality Chronicler (Deadline August 1st): The Chronicler's chief duty is the publication of the Avantgarde on a monthly schedule. In tandem to this the Chronicler also tracks subscriptions and handles a record of the offices financial status. The Chronciler is also responsible for attending and taking the minutes of the curia meetings held four times a year at the two coronet events and the two investiture events. Chatelaine (Deadline August 1st)Responsible for providing an introduction to the Current Middle Ages to new or prospective members; for advising newcomers of the conventions of the Society, their Kingdom and branch; and for encouraging participation in the group. The chatelaine can provide access to educational information such as handouts, booklets and other materials. In all of these activities, the chatelaine's main charge is to represent the S.C.A. accurately and favorably, and to encourage all members to do likewise.

Equestrian Marshal (Deadline August 1st): To encourage equestrian activities in Avacal, we are looking for and Equestrian Marshal Deputy Officer. 1) Must be a Warranted Equestrian Marshal (or provide plans to become an Equestrian Marshal before being invested) 2) Must be willing to travel as equestrian events need a Marshal present from the beginning until the end of events. 3) Must be willing to communicate with both the Principality Earl Marshal and the Kingdom Equestrian Marshal 4) Must report on time to both the Principality and the Kingdom. 5) Willing to be primary contact and information disseminator to individuals wanting to either participate in or find out more about equestrian activities within Avacal and An Tir.

Principality Herald (Deadline August 1st): The position of Avacal Pincipality Herald is open, and for any interested in applying for the position to send their resumes to the current Prince and Princess, the upcoming Tanist and Tanista and copy the Principality Senechal. Principality Heralds are responsible for coordinating court, voice and book heraldry within their principalities.

Gamesmaster (Arts and Sciences, no set deadline,ASAP): The Gamesmaster furthers the practice and play of medieval games and pastimes. The Gamesmaster researches medieval games and pastimes, teaches about them, and encourages their play. If you enjoy playing games and are interested please apply and help spread them across Avacal.

Education Deputy (Herald, Deadline, March 30): For more information on taking on this office and the duties and responsibilities of the education herald please contact the Avacal Principality Herald. Deputy Principality Scribal Branch Liason (Deadline onging): These deputies will will co-ordinate with the Principality Scribe to arrange for Principality charters to be created at local levels. Duties may include copying charters, arranging painting nights, helping new people who are interested and getting completed charters back to the Scribe.

Chronicler Contingency Deputy (Until filled): This deputy is someone who can take over the Avantgarde if the current Principality Chronicler is unable to complete their term in office for an unforseeable event. For more information please contact the Principality Chronicler.

Submissions Herald (Deadline March 30): This is a new position for our Principality and as such, it will require some work with the applicant, the Principality Herald and the kingdom Submissions Herald to establish.This position will be in charge of taking in the name, device and badge submissions from Avacal and sending them to the An Tir Submissions Herald. This position will begin as being a deputy to the Kingdom Submissions Herald for 3 to 4 months as you get training for performing the tasks necessary for this position. If you wish to apply for this position, you need to be very organized and have a stable address.
