How can I become involved?
First, you do not have to be an experienced scribe or illuminator to get involved. The College manages projects of all scales and many are ideal for someone who is interested but not experienced. However, if you are already a talented or accomplished artist or scribe we have work for you!
Second, you do not have to be interested in or enjoy all elements of the scribal arts to be involved. Some people only enjoy calligraphy, some only enjoy the design process, while others only like to paint. The creation of scrolls can be a group process, do not feel that you need to want to do it all to be involved.
To be involved there are only two critical requirements beyond interest and enthusiasm: the ability to meet deadlines and the ability to be discrete. In almost every instance timing is important in the creation of scrolls and charters so the ability to meet deadlines is essential. Without scrolls and charters ready and on hand at events, the presenting of awards is simply not the same for either the Royals or the recipients. Further, given that scribes are often entrusted with delicate information, such as the name of pending award recipients, it is crucial that scribes be discrete and careful with this information. Accidentally or intentionally leaking hints or information to the pending recipient, family or friends is simply unacceptable. Individuals who violate this trust will no longer be permitted to be involved. If you can meet these two expectations, we can help you learn everything else you need to be involved. All you need is the interest and the willingness to commit your time and energy.
There are several ways to participate:
